Datex-P (and other PSPDNs)
PSPDN stands for Packet Switched Public Data Network. The were often referred-to as X.25 networks, even though X.25 only describes the user interface and not the actual network. The German incarnation of this concept was termed Datex-P by Deutsche Bundespost.
A PSPDN is a dedicated, separate (from PSTN) network providing digital communication services between its users. It is
packet switched unlike a telephony network, but similar to IP networks
digital unlike a telephony network. The interface between subscriber and network is a digital interface, not an analog line
So conceptually, in a PSPDN like Datex-P, calls between two subscribers are established similar to TCP connections are established over an IP network. No dedicated resources are allocated for the call.
We collect, document, maintain and restore any kind of Datex-P / X.25 / PSPDN related equipment.
Sadly, anything beyond the customer-side DCE (Data Commuications Equipment) like DAG or ISDN TA X.31 seems to have been lost to history. In case anyone still has network-side components (which in the case of Datex-P would mean Siemens EWSP), do not hesitate to reach out!
